In this article I’m going to explain what a Squeeze Page is, and how they’re used by internet marketers to build big lists of emails addresses of prospective customers and clients.

Any internet marketer will tell you that the key to success is to get a big list of email subscribers who you can then promote your products and services to.

Of course one of the biggest challenges is getting that list!

Squeeze pages, if designed correctly can be very effective of getting lots of new email addresses, and is a quick and easy strategy to implement.

The term ‘squeeze’ is a shortened version of the phrase “name squeeze” – based on the idea of getting web site visitors to voluntarily submit their email address and other personal details, when they would otherwise be reluctant to do so!

Squeeze pages are a specific web page that offers the visitor something of value, in return for their email address. The offer can be a free subscription to your newsletter or blog, or more effectively – a free gift they can download.

If you decide to offer a free gift it could be anything, from a report, an audio or video file, to an Excel spreadsheet… basically anything that encourages visitors to submit their names and email addresses in return for the promised gift.

Internet marketers are then able to communicate with this list of prospects and turn them into regular buyers and customers.

As a general rule, Internet Marketers should keep the content on their Squeeze Pages to a minimum. The main goal of the page is to obtain the visitor’s email address; additional information could distract the user or cause them to “Click-Away” to a different website, so hyperlinks are very rarely used, if at all.

However, there is a science to designing these specific web pages. Just because you have one doesn’t guarantee that people will submit their name and email address. There are certain elements that a successful squeeze page must contain. A compelling title for one, and obviously the offer, or free gift that is being promised once their details have been submitted. If the offer is of no interest, or has a low ‘perceived value’ then the visitor will click away without giving their email address.

However, get them right and Squeeze Pages can be the first step in an extremely profitable web marketing strategy that puts your sales lead generation on autopilot.
